Community support for our first ESH graduates

We are so proud of our first graduating class, that we spread the word, and shared our excitement with the wider Dutch community. Many responded with well-wishes, and wanted to help celebrate our milestone, by donating items to be included in our ESH Alumni welcome packs. Special thanks to the following companies who share ESH’s belief in education, multiculturalism, languages and the international community, and donated items for our first graduates.

First winner of the Frans Koks History Award announced

After our History teacher, Mr Frans Koks, passed away earlier this year, it was decided that an award be created in his honour. The Frans Koks History Award will be presented at every ESH graduation ceremony going forward, to keep his memory alive at the school.

The award was designed by Nicolet Teunissen, Head of the Art department, and is a very symbolic piece. To represent the rich history of the Netherlands, the sculpture is designed in the form of an artefact, similar to many uncovered around the Hague, and is inspired by the Venus sculptures unearthed by archeologists. Carved into the sculpture is the crest of the the Hague, and the stars of Europe.

For outstanding ability in History, the very first Frans Koks award was presented to Noémie Faure. Presenting the award, Frans van de Kerkhof said, "because she has shown strong skills and consistent interest in the subject of history, ESH’s history department would like to award the Frans Koks History Prize to Noémie Faure. Throughout her years at ESH, Noémie has impressed her teachers by her level of maturity and her will to always reach her best potential. These qualities have particularly shined in her history class".

Geslaagd!

It was a nervous wait for the S7 students on Thursday night in anticipation of the official communication of results from the European Schools. Students were invited to gather at the school at 21.00, where they learned that everyone had successfully completed their exams and would all be receiving their European Baccalaureate diplomas. The students were joined by their proud teachers, and the group shared a celebratory drink together.

The European School The Hague is thrilled that our first group of EB candidates achieved a 100% pass rate, and will all be graduating together at today's ceremony.

Congratulations! Gefeliciteerd! Gratulation! Félicitations!

Looking back

The ESH Alumni has offically launched, and our first few graduates have already signed up to join the join the network. When asked to look back over her time at ESH, here's what 2019 graduate, Irena, had to say:

"One of the things that struck me the most about ESH from the very start were the numerous languages and nationalities mingling together in a kind of big and welcoming stirring pot".

"The school is set up to provide you with the best help possible, whether that be with Math problems, essay writing, teacher-student relationships or your mental health".

"ESH overall offered a very warm and understanding environment in which to pursue the most important years of my secondary education".

Graduates are invited to share their reflections by signing up to the ESH Alumni.
